Eddie Wintergalen is a PhD student at the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy at the University of Miami. His research interests are in the sustainability problems faced by small scale fisheries. The goal of his research is to consider these problems and contribute toward solutions that consider cultural and economic factors in addition to environmental concerns.
Eddie was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, where the rising local temperatures and worsening drought conditions contributed to his initial interest in climate change and other environmental issues. He pursued these interests at Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated in 2019 with a B.A. in Environmental Earth Science and Anthropology. His hobbies include running, playing soccer, and traveling.
