Carlie Dario is a PhD candidate at the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy at the University of Miami (UM). Her research investigates the values and perceptions of nature-based solutions for coastal risk reduction and resilience, particularly in Florida. Her work aims to foster more inclusive public support for coastal adaptation programs and policies.
Prior to her PhD, Carlie received her Masters in Professional Science degree in Marine Conservation at UM’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.Originally from Manila, Philippines, Carlie has since worn many hats in her career as a program manager for science education, a conservation spatial analyst, and a community facilitator for marine protected area management. While Carlie loves engaging with people in her work, in her quiet time, she enjoys cooking for others, scuba diving, yoga, and musical theater.
